RDS Remote Desktop Gateway User Authentication - stop using pre-Windows 2000 logon name.

Greetings,

With the ongoing move to the Office 365 environments we're trying to remain consistent in directing our users to use their standard logon name and not their pre-windows 2000 logon name.

We have a Remote Desktop Gateway 2012 R2 server that works wonderfully but I've noticed that credentials can only be passed by using the pre-windows 2000 logon name for a user, and not the standard logon name. Within the network the standard logon name can be used with RDP and everything functions just fine. However when coming through the RDG (which sits in the perimeter/DMZ) it doesn't authenticate with the normal user logon name.

I've poked around the various settings in RDG and RDS but I've not found a place where this option can be specified. Anyone run into this yet? Anyone have any pointers?
