Not able to create folder on mapped local drive through RDP

Hi,

This behaviour is only visible in Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2. Everything works fine for older operating systems.

When you open RDP session to above server/client and open a redirected local drive in Windows Explorer you don’t have ‘New’ command available from the context menu (right click) in the root of the drive. As soon as you navigate to any folders you can see the command in the context menu. The command is not available only in root of the drive. This is not a permission issue since you can copy/paste new folders/files to root of redirected drive. You just don’t have ‘New’ command available.

It works if you access drive using UNC path in Windows Explorer. Eg\\client\c$ or map a local drive letter to the client drive. It’s only drives redirected through RDP don’t have that menu item available.

Is this a bug or it’s by design ? Why the behaviour has been changed in new Operating Systems ?
