Environment:
2 Clusters running Windows Server 2012 R2
Hyper-V - 3 terminal server machines (farm configuration)
Servers are patched
Roaming profiles
Only one log on at a time. User session will be usurped when they log onto another terminal server
--------------
Ever since we migrated to a virtual environment we have been experiencing intermittent roaming profile issues, i.e., loading/unloading. When a user logs off, it appears their session logged off completely from the terminal server. However, when viewing the open files (Server Manager > Tools > Computer Management > Shared Folders > Open Files) where the roaming profiles are saved, the files are locking up. I will see approximately 300 opened files listed for a specific user. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes for the files to close. However, sometimes they won't close, and will remain locked. When the user logs on the next day, they get a partially synchronized profile because the files are "already being accessed". At times, the users will lose items they saved on their Desktops, Outlook email signatures, etc. In order to work-around this issue, we have to have the user log off, then we close all open files for that user, then have them log back on. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Also, when the files are locked, and the user logs off, they will see a waiting for profile services" message on the screen. This will not go away until we close out of the open files. I am not sure where to look next. Any assistance is much appreciated.
