Hi all,
Recently built an environment with the following servers/services (domain names changed obviously to protect the innocent!)
Server 1 - Web Interface - Internal name apgrdsweb01.domain.local. Public name webapps.ourdomain.com. Publishing one full Desktop Collection.
Server 2- RD Gateway/License Server - Internal name apgrdsgw01.domain.local
Server 3 RD Connection Broker - not configured for HA at this point. Internal name apgrdsconb01.domain.local. Public name rdcb.ourdomain.com
Server 4/5/6/7 - RD Session Hosts. Internal names apgrdssess01/2/3/4.domain.local
Wildcard GoDaddy cert configured for each service using *.ourdomain.com.
After some reading on the subject (http://www.rdsgurus.com/windows-2012-r2-how-to-create-a-mostly-seamless-logon-experience-for-your-remote-desktop-services-environment/) I also created an internal DNS zone for ourdomain.com and added the A records for webapps and rdcb and used the Powershell command detailed here (http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Change-published-FQDN-for-2a029b80) to change the published name of the single connection broker to rdcb.ourdomain.com
All seems to work fine with the exception of one thing.
The issue I am faced with is that when instantiating a connection from a public computer, on connection to the Web Interface the Remote App and Connections prompt (that appears in the task bar) states that it is connected to the INTERNAL server name for the connection broker i.e. apgrdsconb01.domain.local. Likewise when invoking the published desktop session I get a certificate error prompting again that the connection is being made to the internal server name (and hence the cert error).
Using a web browser other than IE reveals the connection file and looking at these settings it seems fine with the exception of one item 'workspace id'. This line states workspace id: s : APGRDSCONB01.domain.local.
Any insights into this issue would really be appreciated.
Regards,
Simon
