We have deployed SQL Server(Enterprise Edition) on a VM in azure. Now we want to move this to SQL (Standard Edition) on a VM in azure. We have only 1 Database on the server that needs to be moved. Can anyone help me with the steps. i am not an expert on SQL.
1)I see Master , Model , msdb and my Database in the list . Do I need to backup all of the them and move to Standard SQL Server?
2)Does Azure b/up services(Recovery Service Vault) allow me to do that?

we have RDS installed in Windows 2016 standard edition and use session-base desktop deployment.
It was working fine for about one year. About two weeks ago, we started to have the following issue:
This computer can't connect to the remote computer.
The two computers couldn't connect in the amount of time allotted. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact your network administrator or technical support.
When this issue happens, we find some users are disconnected in the RDS-Collections-QuickSessionCollection. But we cannot log/sign off those users, they are always showing there.
BTW, we can sign of those users in the Task Manager-Users.
We can solve this issue by restarting the server. How to fix it without restarting the server?

I have tried profile disks, group policies, roaming profiles but at different sites and locations the Server 2016 will not hold the users default programs settings per user. Has anyone else seen this and if so what did you do about it.
I have 2012 r2 and 2008 r2 farms that do this with no problem. It is driving me nuts.

I restore one of my Epicor server (Epicor is a software - https://www.epicor.com) and configure RDSH (Remote Desktop Service Host) for testing.
I created AD (Private IP) and RDSH Server (Private IP with Nated Public IP)
I configure the firewall rules (SonicWall) and allow only http/https and RDP (389) traffic from WAN for RDSH Server.
I install the 3rd party certificate (comodo) in RDSH server. RDSH require .pfx certificate so I create/install the certificate in IIS and export the certificate with private key and password. I make sure that password is strong. I import the certificate in
below roles. certificate is install and success. RD Gateway role is grey-out.
RD Connection Broker - Enable Single Sign on
RD Connection Broker - Publishing
RD Web Access
1st Time: Server was hacked after one hour and all files were encrypted
2nd Time: I rebuild the server again and perform all the above steps again but server again hacked after 24 hours.
Note:
I scan the primary server (Epicor Server) from different tools (malwarebytes) but there is no virus etc.
The RDSH server is a replica of my current server (Epicor server). Epicor Server is also available for remote access (Not RDSH) and its working fine. I can RDP it and work on it without any issue.
In this server Epicor and SQL application are installed. Can my server hacked any of Epicor or SQL account but primary server also available from WAN and its working fine.
Both time AD is not hacked, only RDSH server is hacked.
Both server and certificate name are same for example: e10.domain.com is a server name and certificate url https://e10.domain.com/RDWeb. Is there any issue for using same name. I feel comfortable because RDSH configure with server name and certificate install
without any issue.
I am not sure what is the issue? Someone please help me to find out the issue for this hacking. Rest of the network is fine.
Its windows server standard 2012 R2. (Both AD and RDSH server)

I have server 2012 which I setup a server farm consisting of 3 rds-servers and services server for the gateway, licensing, broker etc. I would like to eliminate the server farm, and just connect directly to each individual rds server....like we do with our old terminal server setup.
I feel like I was "lucky" to get it working, and if I had to re-create it, it would be a nightmare.
Can anyone add compelling reasons to leave it as is?
What about recovery comments. It's hosted at an offsite service under a HyperV-vm environment. Are there some easy steps for me to take which would make recovering from failed hardware?

I've been having this error for while now, I connect to one of the servers and it starts doing its thing apparently going through every step just fine but then I get this Access is denied message:
Normally I wouldn't bother trying to fix it because I don't have the time nor the resources to throw at it, I just snapshot the machine back to a working state, files will are centralized in non-Microsoft redundant servers, they are safe. However, when I tried snapshotting back this VM way back to the beginning of the month the error was still there. I figured, it's a domain issue then, so I took it out of the domain and it still wouldn't let me in.
I connected to the machine's console (via Fusion, it's hosted on ESXi) and checked the log.
There was nothing descriptive except for a "reason code 12" which I knew meant basically nothing because I had looked for it before when this started happening, so I went deeper since my snapshot safety is over I need to know how's it fixed.
Most of the RDS related branches in the tree were empty but in Microsoft/Windows/RemoteDesktopServices-RdpCoreTS/Operational I found some data, actually a ton, 50+ events per connection attemp. They all occur in the same second. I started following the messages, the one where everything fails is:
Disconnect trace:CUMRDPConnection Disconnect trace:'calling spGfxPlugin->PreDisconnect()' in CUMRDPConnection::PreDisconnect at 4477 err=[0xc], Error code:0xC
Here's a table of the logs I made copying them one by one, I tried adding it here but exceeded the message length: http://fetch.vitanetworks.link/stationary/technet/eventlogerror.pdf it's a PDF, so it should show right in the browser.
Using the system with another account reveals the user that failed to log in, tho whom access was denied, is somehowstill logged in. I was informed this when I tried to restart the computer and the warning I would kick other users out showed up. No configuration has been changed on the server, on DCs/GPOs, on the client, nor on the hypervisor. And of course I have no idea what does that graphics thing mean.
The other directory with events was on Microsoft/Windows/RemoteDesktopServices-SessionServices/Operational with a way more decent 2 events per connection attempts:
1 Error The RDP display control module failed to change the session monitor layout. The operation failed with error code 0xFFFFFFFF.
2 Information The RDP display control module successfully changed the session monitor layout. New layout has 1 monitors.
And that's all the info I have. Could you point me where to go next to get more information or how to proceed from here? I don't want to reinstall Windows, I put way too much time on these machines. :/

We are facing an issue when enabling RDS services on a new Windows 2016 Standard Server as seen below.
Tried removing the role and then doing the installation again after restarts and still the same error.
Enabled TLS 1.0 which i saw in another newsgroup was causing this error but still didn't solve for me.
Appreciate, if someone can help with this issue.

We just bought a couple of servers from Lenovo and added a 5-User CAL to each, the CALs came with a Tracking Number in them, but when I went to add the licenses to Windows I can't find a type that has a Tracking number, so how can I add these licenses to our new servers?

I have a server farm consisting of a broker, three rds servers etc
I want to have my domain groups/users control which users are allowed access to specific servers.
Example: a xxx_admin group will be routed to server 1; xxx_sales group will be routed to server 2 etc.
I'd like to do this all with domain user/group configuration.

A customer still using Windows Server 2008 R2 to publish applications via RemoteApp reports the problem described on page https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/981156/remoteapp-applications-are-displayed-as-black-windows-when-you-restart
They attempted to download the hotfix suggested in the page (Windows6.1-KB981156-v2) but it is not available anymore.
They can download it from third party sites but they are not sure it is genuine Microsoft software.
How can they get the hotfix from Microsoft?
Is there any alternate solution to fix their problem?

When logging in via our external facing WebAccess configuration to a Windows 7 vm we see the screenshot below. When we connect to a windows 10 vm it connects straight away no problem.
When we look at the certificate it's a self-signed one, why is W7 using this..? What are we missing with Windows 7...?
Just trying to get a definitive answer to find out if it's A)possible and B)supported in server 2019 to configure a single RD Connection Broker to manage a RD Session Host Farm and a RD Virtualization Host (VDI).
A client wants to use both technologies for a new system and while we used the Connection Broker with a RD Session Host , I'm not sure if the same Broker can also be used / is supprted to direct users to a Personal Virtual Desktop/RD Virtualization Host VDI (on a new/extra dedicated server)as well?
Find an simular post for server2008R2, but think thing might changed for server 2019.

Facing isssue with AWS ec2 instance that I have windows server 2016 and I installed skype in that machine, now the problem is I can not make calls from skype. speaker is working but mic is not, i mean I can hear everyone but no one can hear me, I tried many ways but no suucess.

I am working on setting up an entire 2012 RDS system, with TMG Server as reverse proxy in back Firewall mode, 2 RDG, 2 Brokers HA attached to a 2012 SQL server holding the DB, and of course, collections with multiple RDSH servers. After some headaches, everything is working ok and I am about to be done.
I just have a little (last) issue with certificates. I have been able to handle most of them with the 2012 RDS cert manager through topologie builder but the problem is on the end of the chain, on the RDSH.
We bought a public domain wildcard cert *.externaldomain.com and applied it to RDGs and Brokers. Then I also applied it on RDSH servers, and I am having "Code: 0x607" issues from RDC8/Windows8 or simply still a mismatch prompt from older RDC, telling that I am trying to access RDS1.internaldomain.lan and the cert applied to the RDP-TCP connector (using powershell or WMI commands just fine) is *.externaldomain.com and of course, doesn't match.
I am 99% sure that changing the FQDN collection to farm1.externaldomain.com would fix the problem. On 2008 R2 it is something you can do pretty easy from the RDS properties of each RDSH servers, but not on 2012 anymore.
Is there a way to change the FQDN of a collection to be used by remoteApps? Do you think it is something 2012 R2 will bring ?
If no, is the only way to proceed is to buy a *.internaldomain.lan wildcard cert?
Note that when using a Full desktop connection with RDC (through the Gateway), with farm1.externaldomain.com as host, it works just fine and the certificate is approved. (I also managed externaldomain.com domain on my internal DNS serveur to resolv internal IPs)
I would really appreciate your advises on that one !

This happens (or well, doesn't happen) when trying to use the Remote Desktop WebClient.
The issue we are encountering is that even with Printer Redirection enabled, there is no "Remote Desktop Virtual Printer" being connected to the remote session. We can't find any other configuration that has to be made in other for it to appear. It was tried from multiple Web browsers, Edge, Firefox 64.0.2, Chrome 71.0.3578.98 and Internet Explorer 11.
Any idea?

I hope that someone can shed som light on this topic because I was not able to find the answer nowhere on the internet. I understand that RDS needs WID when we have single broker. But when I implement Broker HA and move database from WID to SQL server and when I go and disable WID rds services stop working? Why?
