Configuring RDWeb with custom RDS listening port
We are using a custom port for RDS on the server. Works properly
We also disable UDP via GPO for access to remote desktop server.
When I connect to the RDWeb I can access (SSL configured porperly) But now when I try to access any apps it fails on opening remote port.
RD GW Mgr -> Resource Auth Polciy -> Default policies created
RDG_AllDomainComputers -> Changed port from 3389 to match custom port
RDG_RDConnectionBrokers -> changed port from 3389 to match custom port
I have all RDS roles on single server. Using CA root Cert.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Remote Desktop licensing/cal usage issue
Built a new Citrix farm with Server 2016, with XenApp 7.15. We only use Citrix for published applications. 15 years worth of previous Citrix installs using per device cal's, never had an issue. Since building the new farm, every 2 months or so all the cal's are in use/unavailable, users get a "Remote Desktop License issue" error when launching an application. Have to rebuild the license database to free up the cals. Does anyone know what changed in server 2016 or Citrix after 6.5 that might be causing this issue? The license GPO's are correct, no errors on the server, can't figure out why the cals are not made available after a machine disconnects. We only have RDS installed for Citrix. We are small, only 20 cals, at most we will have 5 concurrent connections. Need to figure out what is going on with the licensing.
Since we are only publishing applications would it be better to use per user cal's?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi.
We are running Remote Desktop 2016 with Danish language pack.
We have noticed that the GUI changes and control options are missing as soon as I add the danish language pack.
initial I did a offline install from a cab file, first I thought that I was using a outdated cab file or something.
Then I tried to make a new server from our image(without language pack) and add the language pack from the control panel, and auto downloaded it.. same problem.
Then I installed a new server from ISO and did not join our domain, just bootet and add language from control panel.. same problem, I am unable to create a new working server with danish language pack.
We currently have 14 RDS2016 server deployed from the same image 6 of the have the same problem, settings panel is missing options and icons and labels do not match when using danish language pack.
Any suggestions how to fix this?

Hi Support,
I have a Windows 2012 R2 standard that is hosting a LOB application. 7 users are logging in to it using rdp from different locations. The port 3389 is open and we have a static IP. It was recently hacked. I need to know how to put either 2fa or any other safety measures to protect the server?
How can i get an alert if 5consecutiveinvalidauthenticationattempts have occurred?

Desktop Not Refreshing / Updating
Hi folks,
I have 2 different Win10 laptops signing into my desktop via RD, but both show an older layout of icons than I currently have when working directly from the desktop PC.
If I rearrange icons on desktop, but then RD login, they are still the same as a month or two back.
If I rearrange via laptop when connected to the desktop, no changes are made when I got back to the PC to work.
Frustrating!
Any ideas why it isn't auto-refreshing/updating?

Edge password prompt when lauching VDI from web access
We have a external facing web access page that our users use to login from home. When launching the VDI using IE it automatically logs the user in with no prompt. When using Edge users get a 'Login Credentials' prompt when launching the VDI.
Anyone else have this and know how to fix.

See the client computer name for RDS connected users in a farm
Probably been asked many times before - but im yet to see any reasonable answers for it.
We have a 100+ server farm about to go live, and the helpdesk has just noticed that the connecting computername is not show in the management interface.
I've done some searching and found that no native powershell commands seem to display this information.
How does everyone else get this information?

My client want to install "Remote Desktop Service" all 5 roles on Windows 2016 server which already hold AD, DHCP, DNS & Windows Server Essentials Experience role. I am aware that we can install it but like to know if we will have any problem in future. Is there any known issue with this configuration. Is there any article from Microsoft which confirm that it do not support this configuration.

I hope that someone can shed som light on this topic because I was not able to find the answer nowhere on the internet. I understand that RDS needs WID when we have single broker. But when I implement Broker HA and move database from WID to SQL server and when I go and disable WID rds services stop working? Why?

Remote Desktop Connection does not work with some Remote Desktop Gateways
I have two Windows 2012 R2 domain controllers and installed remote desktop gateway on each for redundancy. Probably 6 months ago RD Gateway on server 1 stopped working with Remote Desktop Connection (the old rd client) but it works with IOS RD Client
and the Remote Desktop app found in the Microsoft store. Server 2 has continued to work fine. I installed remote desktop gateway on a Windows 2012 R2 server (not a domain controller) and have the same issue on it. I have compared configurations
between the servers and checked logs but don't see anything in the logs except on the client side. I have checked firewall settings and turned it off for testing. Any ideas or direction would be appreciated.

RDS Server Stop Error (BlueScreen)
I have a 2012 R2 RDS server crashing every week or so for no apparent reason. I have run a BlueScreenView analysis and that lead me to this hotfix, which matches all the aspects of the crashing perfectly:

However, when attempting to install this hotfix, I get the error "This update is not compatible with your system." There is no indication that this hotfix has been included in a subsequent cumulative update, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

Idle Time reset for all users at logon
When I run a 'query user' command to get the idle time for each user, I have noticed that it gets reset back to 0 when a new user logs in. This is a problem because our session timeouts never kick in, even if a user actually is idle. Every single time a user logs on it resets the counter for everyone.
Has anyone seen this behavior before or know how to prevent it? We have idle users who are never kicked off the server because the counter keeps getting reset.

Windows 2016 RDS Gateway issue
I'm in the process of testing our new Windows 2016 RDS deployment. I have the following servers in place:
- Server1 - RD Gateway (DMZ)
- Server2 - RD Broker, RD Gateway & RD licensing (LAN)
- Server3 - RD Session Host (LAN)
- Server4 - RD Session Host (LAN)
On our firewall i have made the necessary nat, port, firewall adjustments. I've an external dns record which points to the RD Gateway and applied a commercial ssl certificate to all RDS servers.
Internally, if i rdp to the RDS collection, i am successfully logged onto one of the RDSH servers and load balancing appears to be working.
Externally, if i rdp to the external dns name (and include the gateway details within the rdp client) i end up logged onto the RD broker, rather than one of the RDSH servers.
I've been through my setup twice and cannot see where i have gone wrong? Any ideas?
