Allow users in RDP session only surf specific URLs
Hello,
i'm trying to figure out if it is possible to block all URLs from surfing except some URLs.
Can i do this with registry keys or should i use a software?
I want some users to only surf to 1 or 2 specific websites and not even the root sites but something like https://this.website.local/andsomethinghere/*
https://this.website.local/ should be blocked. I could achieve this by changing all the security groups that having access to the website but this would be easier to accomplish.
Also this should be application independent if possible. But IE for the first step is also OK.

How to connect to 2012 R2 RDS Collection via Netbios Name?
Just set up a 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Farm:
RDCB = Connection Broker, Licensing, Web Access
RDSH1 = Session Host
RDSH2 = Session Host
RDSH3 = Session Host
RDSH4 = Session Host
Did not setup a Gateway Server because users will connect to it via LAN only. The users will not use RDWeb. All users will connect via Thin Client or RDP Client.
How do I setup the Collection so that anyone who uses mstsc.exe can connect to the Farm via Netbios name "RDS" instead of rds.domain.local?
Do I need a Gateway Server for this?

Blank RDWEB page on first login.
Hi, I have a RDS setup on server 2012R2, its just on the local network, so no gateway.
I have a strange issue where the users get a blank RDWEB page (no apps displayed) when they first access the page.
when you refresh the apps appear.
we only have 20 apps published.
cannot figure this one out, any ideas would be appreciated

Are there CALs available for RDS for server 2016?
I don't see any in my MSDN, but when I try to connect remotely, it says my 2012 License server is unable to provide the correct licenses.
Can RDS be tested while Server 2016 is in Tech Preview?

Giving Privilage to Active directory domain user to install certificate

We have an shared Active directory server with 10 OU for different project ( all user are domain user )
We need to give limited privilage to users of a particular OU to install certificate when accessing web application in windows 7 client. Please advise the best solution without giving admin access to users.

VM Windows Server 2016 TP5 not working with RemoteFX adapter.
Hey
I'm trying to use RemoteFX adapter on my VM with Windows Server 2016 TP5, but whenever I add a RemoteFX Adapter to my VM, the VM doesn't start. Hangs on Windows logo. Without RemoteFX it's working fine. I even can find Microsoft RemoteFX Graphics Device - WDDM
driver in the Device Manager.

My host OS is Hyper-V Server 2016 TP5
My guest OS is Windows Server 2016 TP5
I've tried it with both 1 and 2 gen VM.

The newest GPU drivers are installed.
Any ideas what can be a problem?

RDC crashes when sound plays on server
Hello I have a windows 2008 r2 server hosted in Germany (me in the US) and when i try to play sounds RDC crashes and when i reconnect it has an error saying unable to play test sound (when i try to run test sound) on the server. i wasnt sure if it was
just connection isnt fast enough to transfer sounds or if something is wrong on my end or server end. im on windows 8.1.

Enabling sound after changing user interface to PowerShell
Hi,
I'm trying to setup a sort of kiosk RDP for some Handheld devices. I changed the user interface from explorer.exe to powershell.exe, running a customized PS script. To do this, I setup a GPO to specific users (see: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc975911.aspx). The custom user interface is something like powershell.exe -windowstyle hidden c:\myscript.ps.
Ths PS script runs a LOB application and sits waiting for exit, then logoff the session. All works like a charm.
RDP license server is Server 2012R2, but the RDS server is still 2008R2 (for software compatibility reasons).
Now I need to add sound, because the application produces audible warnings. I installed Desktop Experience. If I RDP with a "standard" user (with the GPO not applied), sound works fine, but, If I login with a user with custom user interface (my PS script) sound is lacking. Seems that, if I don't launch explorer.exe, sound doesn't get initialized.
Is there a way to initialize sound system from a PS script ?

Time limit only for one users group to only one RDS server into AD domain
In AD environment with more users and more RDS servers, how can apply time limit (2 hours) only for one user group to only one RDS server. (In general Users group AND Computers group),
If I apply computer time limit GPO to one RDS server, then all users will disconnect on this RDS server.
If I apply user time limit GPO to one user group, then this users group will disconnect on ALL RDS servers in the domain.
I not understood if it is possible to have a filter with logic AND : Users group AND Computers group.
If not, is there a workaround for my target?↧
Map to printer on different domain
I have a printer that has been provided for our check printing process. It is a UNC path to a server that is setup in a different domain. We do not have a trust setup with this domain, but we have been given an account to connect to this printer with in the domain the printer is setup in. I have users running a published app on RDS Server 2012 R2 that need to print to this printer. How can I map it for them as the different user account? When i was testing using net use from a command line the printer only shows up in DOS. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to install Multiple Office Products of different suite on same Terminal Server for different users.
Dear All,
We already had following products with us (purchased under Volume License):
- Office Standard 2010
Current scenario:
We have 9 computers on which this Office Standard Product is installed.
Requirement:
We are expanding our factory; hence the user count will increase from 9 to 20. We are opting for deploying Terminal Server with Server Environment as RDP for all 20 users using thinclients. Since, only 9 users will require to use the complete Office suite, for other users, I will require only Excel and Outlook. Hence, I contacted one of the Microsoft partner in Mumbai, India – Seal technologies for the same. They had confirmed that I can purchase only Excel and Outlook software instead of complete suite. So my query is how to install Office Standard 2010 for 9 users and Excel + Outlook for remaining 11 users on Windows Server for RDP access using Thinclients.
Please help on this problem as soon as possible.

User profile disk locked up after installing Skype For Business 2016
Hello,
As the title suggests, we encountered a problem with user profile disk not being dismounted after user logs off. The issue appeared immediately after installing Skype for Business 2016 on the RDS hosts. After uninstalling Skype, the problem went away.
The event viewer contains the error message about
Remote Desktop Services could not disconnect a user disk for the user account with a SID of S-1-5-##-##########-########-#########-####. The error code is 0xAA.93
Additionaly we found this in the Application logs:
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards. No user action is required.
and
1 user registry handles leaked from \Registry\User\S-1-5-##-##########-########-#########-####_Classes:Process 756 (\Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\svchost.exe) has opened key \REGISTRY\USER\S-1-5-##-###################-#########-####_CLASSES
My understanding is that Skype is somehow locking up the user registry in the profile, preventing the RD Services from releasing the disk.
One idea we currently have is to have logoff script that kills the process that is locking the profile, haven't tested it yet though.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue with Skype on RDS?

i have a domain network with A.D ,DNS , ...
i config a terminal server in network with winserver2012. client connect to terminal server and work.
clients and terminal server config with group policy.
i am admin network. i want connect to terminal server with client user account with win7 in this case not problem.
but when i connect to terminal server with client user account with win8.1 or 10 , the connection error :
the system administrator has limited the computers you can log on with windows ...
what i do?

Hyper-V Manager - Virtual Desktop Collection does not show connected VM Status
Hi,
I have 6 Pooled VMs which created yesterday and users are able to connect via RDWeb. When a user is connected, The Connection Status shows the domain\user under Connection Status. This morning, users called said they cannot connect to the pooled VMs with error "This computer can't connect to the remote computer, try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the your administrator."
I can open Hyper-V Manager from the Hyper-V Server and connect and logged into the pooled VMs fine but on the Server Manager-> Remote Desktop Services->Collection, the Connection Status does not show that I am connected. Usually it shows the domain\user. Then I have to delete all the pooled VM and recreate and it works for a while, then same issue.

No one can RDP into a Windows Server 2012 server.
Hi All,
I am facing this issue from some days for my clients Windows server 2012, need urgent help.
None of the users nor Admins are able to do RDP this server. I can only take console of this server from vSphere Client. These are the things that we have done before as troubleshooting.
1) Enabled the 'Remote Desktop Connections' from Computer Management
2) in RUN ran this command ‘Change logon /query’ output was ENABLED.
3) Installed the RDP role on this server.
4) In GPEDIT -- Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services> Remote Desktop Session Host>Licensing ( 1. I have ENABLED and put a licensing server name & 3. enabled RD licensingmode to PER USER)
Still I get this error:
"This computer can’t connect to the remote computer.Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator."
Please advice.

Till few days back i could connect to a remote computer successfully.But today when i try to connect it iam getting an error

Application Dependencies
I am designing a system to host QuickBooks Enterprise to be hosted as a RemoteApp. One of the functions of the server requires Excel, a reporting function. Of the 10 people granted access to my RemoteApp only two of them need access to this function. If I install Office on the server do I need to make Excel a RemoteApp for this QuickBooks function to work? If the answer is yes then I will only publish it for the two users who need access to the function. If the answer is no then I have a follow up question. How can I prohibit access to Excel (or any other part of Office) from those users who don’t require the QuickBooks function? A suggestion I read was AppLocker. Are there any others?
