RDS 2003R2 with Outlook 2010 credential saving issues

Windows server 2003R2 with terminal services installed. - updated

MS Office 2010 installed on the terminal server - updated

if we configure an Outlook profile on the TermServer with one user, Outlook does not prompt us for credentials upon opening.

we want to check two mailboxes, so we add an additional mail user to the same profile and Outlook prompts for both passwords upon opening

in the stored passwords applet in control panel i try to add an additional credential for the mail server, but it simply edits the existing credential - i was able to add an additional credential to the same mail server by using the netbios name, and the FQDN name, and both show up the the stored passwords applet, but it does not solve the issue.

I have looked at other posts, but none seemed to have these symptoms.

Using Windows7 as a client presents no problems with multiple credentials leading me to suspect it has something to do with Windows server 2003R2.

Ideas as to the cause of the issue, or possible solutions appreciated - ThankYou

Server 2008 R2 RemoteApp's Instantly logoff

I'm having a strange issue with a 2008 R2 Remote Desktop server. I can login to the server desktop session with no problem. However when I try to launch an RemoteApp it starts to connects and then just stops. I can watch the session manager and see the user login but almost immediately is logged out. Can anyone shed any light on this issue? I am not seeing any relevant events in the Event Viewer.

Where or how do I purchase RD CAL licenses for Windows Server 2008 R2?

RemoteFX at Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

I am using RemoteFX USB device redirection to connect from different Windows 7/Windows 8 PCs to Windows Server 2012 R2 over RDP 8.1. At some Windows 7 SP1 64-Bit PCs I do not seemenu item „Other supported RemoteFX USB devices“ in Remote Desktop Connection window.

I have checked:

- whether the policy „RemoteFX USB Device Redirection“ was activated by running „rsop.msc“

- whether the usb driver „tsusbflt.sys“ was installed under „Device Manager->Universal Serial Bus controller-> USB root hub, USB hub or USB controller-> Properties->Driver->Driver Details“.

- whether the local group policy was overwritten by other polices

Everything seemed OK.

Do you know what could be then the reason?

Thanks,

Michael

Assign RDS device licenses to specific devices - possible?

We have licensed RDS Device CAL.

Our clients would like to assign those CAL to specific devices. Is there any possibility of achieving this goal? Or is it simply first come first serve?

And what happens if there are no RDS CAL left and a device wants to connect? Will it receive a temporary CAL for the time being? I am asking because we are exchanging xp clients. I know that it is possible to revoke a certain amount of CAL but I don't think that this will be a viable solution.

Specific license file keeps issuing CALs (beyond limit)

We have deployed two 2012 R2 RDS licensing servers. Each has a 250 CAL per user license. One of them has an additional 10 user CAL license as well.

For some reason, the server which has the 10 user license keeps issuing licenses to users against that license, far exceeding the 10 limit. The other license still has some licenses to spare yet they are not being consumed against that. Furthermore, the second server has yet to issue a license at all.

All of the RD Hosts show the correct number license servers in the priority we set them in Server Manager, and the total licenses they show as available are the available licenses available from each of the 250 User CAL licenses. Any idea why this is happening or what we can do?

RDWeb Server 2008 R2 and WIndows 8.1 Clients

Hi

I have an issue with RDWeb and Windows 8.1 clients. Works fine with Windows 7 and Windows 8 clients, yet 8.1 is a no go. I can log on to RDWeb, display the available apps for the logged on user, but when trying to connect to an app it never loads. If I click 'Show Details' on the app, I can see the desktop load but then that is it. Screenshot below is when I try to launch Sage. Sits at the blue desktop screen.

I have tried compatibility mode in IE to no avail. I found a post on here where a user was having similar issues. I tried her fix, but again, nothing.

Log in to blue desktop with cursor for some users randomly.

I have restored from a backup of a citrix VM to bare metal server and everything seems to go as planed but the issue I am running into at this point is that when a terminal server user logs in sometimes they get a blue desktop with a cursor but the desktop never loads.  So far I have tried to remove everything from startup, change the way drives are mapped from a login script to group policy.  I am stuck as its random and seems to be more frequent now then it was a few days ago.

Any help would be great thanks.

Exported Start Screen Layout Folder Shortcuts not pinning

Same issue as here but supplied bandaid BS not working:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/472f249a-e441-4b3d-9735-820647b9fab5/folder-shortcuts-are-not-included-in-start-screen-layout-gpo-rds-2012-r2?referrer=http%3a%2f%2fsocial.technet.microsoft.com%2fForums%2fen-US%2f472f249a-e441-4b3d-9735-820647b9fab5%2ffolder-shortcuts-are-not-included-in-start-screen-layout-gpo-rds-2012-r2%3fforum%3dwinserverTS&prof=required

We export a start screen as XML that includes a folder shortcut. On importing it the folder shortcuts are not present (but are in the xml).

We have tried copying the shortcut file into the all users start as found in the linked thread. This doesn't work.

This is a bug and needs an immediate fix/work around from Microsoft. You made us go buy Enterprise for this sole reason, you better make this work.

Handle count on a .Net application keeps increasing during remote desktop session

I have an in-house .NET application that have these symptoms.

1. When userA logs in from remote desktop and run the application, the application handles count keeps increasing (as seen in Performance monitor). When userA disconnects, the handle count stays as where it was, no longer increasing but also not decreasing.

2. When another user, UserB logs in from remote desktop session on the same machine where userA remote desktop session is running (with the application still running) but userA session already disconnected, the handle count of that application is not affected (no increase, no decrease).

3. When UserA logging again, or reconnect back to his session again, the handle count again start to increase further.

So, in summary whoever logs in and start that application as long as he is still logged in or disconnected but session still active, the application will keeps increasing handle count.

In Process Explorer, I am still multiple instants of "Desktop" and "\Default" as handle type and name respectively.

Based on these symptoms, can anyone suggest how I can go about to troubleshoot what is wrong?

Windows 8/7 can't connect to RDS GW.

Hey..

We have 2 RDSH, 1 GW, 1Licenseand 1 fileserver(roamingprofiles), all running on 2012 R2.

Also a Alpha SSL cert - Wildcard.

Everytime we try to connect we get a message in event Viewer saying:

"The user "domain\user", on client computer "ip", did not meet connection authorization policy requirements and was therefore not authorized to access the RD Gateway server. The authentication method used was: "NTLM" and connection protocol used: "HTTP". The following error occurred: "23003".

Now we have check the CAP and NPS rules and even receatived then to.

And now we are stuck.

Two RD SH collections – RD CB load balancing 2012 R2

I have created two RD SH collections, because some applications are only available through  on SH collections.

How will that  effect RD CB load balancing of RD SH servers  regarding common applications, not specific  one, based on  RemotApp programs.

I did not deploy any DNS RR for RD SH. But I did deploy NLB for  RD Web and RD CB.

RDS 2012 R2 Farm Double Login

Hi,

I have just created a new Server 2012 R2 RDS farm. I need to configure RDP Security Layer on the session host servers as my client would like users to get the windows login screen so they are able to type the users credentials in. The issue i'm getting to the first server via a dns name configured with a round robin load balance and upon checking i hit the first server in the farm. Once i login i then get another login straight after asking me to login to another server. My question is how can i use RDP Security layer and also provide my clients with a single login and maintain a load balanced environemtn?

Any and all help is appreciated. I'm new to RDS 2012 R2 deployments and also struggling on the SSL config. I would like to create a wildcard on my internal CA and deploy to my servers however i'm unable to see how i can create a pfx SSL cert from a windows CA. I seem to only be able to create a custom P7B SSL cert.

Regards,

Rob

RDP Session/Remote App - not showing local disks

Hello,

I have trouble with RDP sessions on my 2 WS 2012 machines, namely, my users have locally set in RDP settings to bring local disk to RDP servers and  apps they run on them, but sometimes they see all disks (C: , D: etc) and suddenly they see just C: or even none...

on both servers in RD Collection properties under User settings all is checked (allowed) - disks, printers...

wht else is to consider regarding local resources in RDP sessions?

Your Remote Desktop session has ended

Hi,

I have installed an RDS 2012r2 server and am using session hosting to publish a remote app or desktop to run this app.

In both cases I can run one instance but when a second client connects I receive the message in the title.

I'm thinking this is a configuration item I've overlooked?

Thanks for any help

Character / Input corruption after session lock

$

One of our larger customers has the following setup:

Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory with 2x DC at a datacentre and 1x DC in their head office, 3x RDS servers in a DNS RR terminal server farm and a DC acting as a gateway server.  The end user accesses the RDS infrastructure via an external URL.

The client PCs are Windows 7 x86 with bare minimum software.  All clients and servers are up to date with released Windows Updates.

When a user logs into the RDS and leaves their computer, it locks after a certain amount of time.  If they unlock their computer all appears well, but when they unlock the RDS session, they invariably see character corruption which means the password is incorrect and they are unable to log in.

There is a workround by users pressing ESC a few times or disconnecting and reconnecting, however a proper resolve to this issue is requested.

Any ideas what is causing this and how I can go about troubleshooting?

Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 freezes and cannot access RDP

$

The system freezes every 15 minutes after a reboot. I am trying to capture some stats using procmon to see what is going on, but while I am working on it, it freezes so I cannot even save the file. Next, RDP does not work even when the system is up for that 15 minutes. Any idea what is going on? This behavior is only on this server. The last patch that this system should have is October. We are patching the November one's now.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

thanks in advance

I have Windows RDS (remote Desktop services) 2008 r2 running (2 Gateway servers, 1 Session host, and 1 licence\broker server) and it has been working fine for past several months. Currently whenever a user launches an app that is internet biased or  try to browse the web, if it is the first app they are lunching from either the RDS webpage or from the RDS feed on their box it will log the user out after 20 seconds (according to event viewer). I have no clue why it is doing this, please help. Not sure what other information to include
